Science-Organic Vegetable Garden in Peñalabra

After having studied plant reproduction in 2ºESO, pupils started chatting about the possibility of testing out some of the reproduction techniques; planting bulbs, making cuttings and the conversation and the ideas started blossoming until we reached the conclusion that we would like to develop an organic vegetable garden in the school, which would serve as an educational tool for the whole school and would also give us a small harvest every year. The idea was immediately accepted by the school's board of directors and so here begins the first chapter in our OVGP (organic vegetable garden project).

Classic Scottish Shortbread Recipe

Ingredients

1lb unsalted butter
5 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
Preheat oven to 180 º C.
Cream butter and sugar with mixer. Add flour and mix with wooden spoon. Use hands to thoroughly mix.
Press in a baking tray and prick with fork all over.
Bake for 10 minutes and then reduce the heat to 120ºC.
Wait 2 minutes and then cut into finger slice bars. Cool thoroughly in pan.

The Natural History Museum London - Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award

Have you got what it takes to become an award winning photographer? The Wildlife Photographer of the Year judges will be looking for originality and ideas that are creative, fresh and surprising. This competition is organised by the Natural History Museum and the BBC Wildlife Magazine. Last years winners were the following:

The Storybook Wolf by José Luis Rodríguez (Spain). José visualised this image many years ago when Iberian wolves first returned to Ávila in Castilla Leon and cattle ranchers declared war on them. His idea was apicture that would symbolisethe ancient conflictbetween humans and wolves, while showing the beauty and strength of this fabled animal.

The overall winner of the Young Photographer of the Year was:

The Clash of the Yellowhammers by Fergus Gill (United Kingdom)

Fergus started the planning of this picture in summer when he collected winter food for the yellowhammers. One evening in February hearing that snow was forecast for the next day, Fergus set up his hideout in the garden. After a few hours the garden was full of birds and at one point there were 32 yellohammers feeding on the ground. He waited patiently to get the shot that was the overall winner of the competition.

9th International Forum: 'Europe'.

The 9th International Forum at the University of Navarra calls on students to work in teams to study a variety of historical, cultural, legal and economic issues related to current events. The program also aims for students to improve their presentation and public speaking skills Students present their findings in a competition which involves the creation of a Powerpoint presentation and a 20-minute speech in English with 10 minutes of 'question-time' afterwards.

A team of students and teachers from bachillerato will be participating in the forum and have chosen the following question to research and prepare:
